Getting to Cortes Island
Yes, we are remotely located, however a visit to our alternative community is well worth the trip. Your journey to Cortes Island, British Columbia will be fun and filled with beautiful scenery no matter what mode you choose to arrive. Watch for wildlife when driving and sea creatures are a common sight when arriving via water. The plane ride is breathtaking. There is a reason they call our province ‘Beautiful British Columbia’. Once on the island, hitchhiking is a common form of transport, as is cycling; and we are a community that still gives each other a friendly wave in passing.
By Air Several airlines offer scheduled flight service to Campbell River. Once in Campbell River, you can rent a car at the airport or take a seaplane to the Cortes Island. For more flight information visit Kenmore Air, NW Seaplanes & Vancouver by Pacific Coastal Airlines.
By Car From Mainland British Columbia, BC Ferries operates scheduled service from Horseshoe Bay and Tsawwassen to Nanaimo. From the USA, Washington State Ferries and Black Ball Transport operate a daily sailing or more depending on season.
